Teamster Power is .... Building a Home for Fallen Soldier's Family
If you ever wonder what Teamster Power is all about, you should get to know a little something about Local Union 786 President Mick Yauger. The Chicago-based union leader is a decorated veteran, and the IBT Helmets to Hardhats liaison. In March 2007 a Dwight, Illinois solider was killed in Iraq. Lance Corporal Ray Holzauer was Lori Fraher's only son. While attending the war hero's funeral, Lt. Governor Pat Quinn was asked to assist Lori with some construction problems at her home. What came from that discussion is a whole lot more than "some construction fixes." With Yauger at the helm, the Teamsters brought together all of the trades in the area to dedicate their time, labor and dollars to build the gold star mom a brand new home, starting with the demolition of the old one. This project ties in a lot of dedicated workers and apprentices working on their first job, one which they will never forget as they go forward in their trade. When the Chicago-based ABC-TV affiliate's segment "Someone You Should Know" got wind of our Teamster brothers and sisters in the area doing this excellent work for this soldier's family, they had to go out and see it for themselves. The video clip is their segment that aired August 8. If you want to be part of this Teamster Power in action, donate to the project by making your check payable to:
